Lingo Owl ("Lingo Owl", "we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Lingo Owl mobile application (the "App").

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Lingo Owl offers an optional sign-in via Google Sign-In. If you choose to sign in, we receive and store a unique authentication identifier (and basic profile information provided by Google, such as your email address) in order to create your account, save your learning progress, and sync it across your devices. You can delete this account and all associated data at any time — see Section 5 (Account & Data Deletion). If you do not sign in, the App can still be used and your data remains stored locally on your device.

Lingo Owl does not collect, store, or transmit any user-generated content or media files processed by the App to our own servers. All such content is stored locally on your device and remains under your control. AI-generated outputs (if applicable) may be processed via third-party AI providers — see Section 3.

3. Advertising and Third-Party Services

The App may use third-party services such as advertising networks, analytics, and AI providers. These services may collect data in accordance with their own privacy policies:

4. Data Retention

We retain non-personal usage and crash data for up to 24 months for analytics purposes, after which it is automatically aggregated or deleted. Any media or content processed by the App is stored only on your device and is not retained by us.

5. Account & Data Deletion

If you sign in to Lingo Owl using Google Sign-In, we create an account associated with your authentication identifier and store your learning data (such as progress, XP, streaks, vocabulary, and study history) in our secure cloud database (Google Firebase) so it can be synced across your devices.

You have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time. There are two ways to request deletion:

  1. Delete directly within the app (recommended). Open the App and go to Settings → Delete Account (located just above the Log Out button). A confirmation dialog will ask you to confirm the action. Once you confirm, the App will permanently and immediately delete:

    • Your authentication account (Google Sign-In identity within Lingo Owl);
    • All of your data stored in our cloud database (Firebase): learning progress, XP, streaks, vocabulary, conversations, quiz attempts, and study history;
    • All data cached locally on your device.

    After deletion, you will be signed out and returned to the login screen. This action cannot be undone.

  2. Request deletion by email. If you are unable to access the App or prefer to make a request manually, you may email us at contact@tranquilmind.co with the subject line "Account Deletion Request". Please send the request from the email address associated with your Google account so we can verify your identity. We will process verified requests and delete your account together with all associated data within 30 days, and confirm once completed.

Certain anonymized, aggregated analytics and crash data that are not linked to your identity may be retained in accordance with Section 4. Where we are legally required to retain specific records, we will retain only the minimum data necessary and delete it once the legal obligation expires.

6. International Data Transfers

Some third-party services (e.g., Google, Meta, AI providers) may process data in countries outside your residence, including the United States. By using the App, you consent to such transfers. Where required, these providers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or equivalent mechanisms for cross-border data transfer.

7. Data Storage and Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect information collected through the App. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

Any media files processed or generated remain stored only on your device. Lingo Owl does not upload or back up your files to our servers.

8. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Lingo Owl is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA, where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that a child has provided personal information, we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians may contact us using the details in Section 12 to request review or deletion.

9. Your Rights Under GDPR (EU/UK Users)

If you reside in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

10. Your Rights Under CCPA / CPRA (California Users)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: Lingo Owl does not sell personal information for monetary value. We may share anonymized identifiers with advertising partners (Google AdMob, Meta) for interest-based advertising, which may be considered "sharing" under CCPA/CPRA. To opt out, contact us at contact@tranquilmind.co or disable personalized ads in your device settings.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. Material changes will be highlighted in-app or on our website. The "Last Updated" date above will be revised.

Your continued use of the App after updates means you accept the revised Privacy Policy.
